Brad MacDonald

Research Interests: My research focuses on implementation and evaluation of interventions in real world settings.

In my post-doctoral research fellow role I am working closely with an international team at the University of Pennsylvania to develop and evaluate a large scale RCT aimed at reducing collisions in young drivers. I was awarded a PhD from University of Strathclyde in November 2020. In my PhD I gained expertise in mixed methods evaluations, specifically using the RE-AIM evaluation framework to implement and evaluate workplace health promotion interventions for effectiveness and scalability in real world settings. In 2020 I worked as a research associate on a COVID-19 research project seeking to understand how and why positive health behaviours were adopted during the first national lockdown in Scotland. Additionally, through my professional work experience as a physical education teacher and program coordinator at the Canadian Red Cross, I have a significant amount of experience developing, implementing and evaluating a wide spectrum of health and wellbeing programs for children.

Personal info- I have an MSc from the University of Edinburgh and BScKin and BEd from the University of New Brunswick in Canada. I am originally from Canada, but have lived and worked in Scotland for 15 years.
